Director of Church Experience

Reporting to the Head of Staff, the Director of Church Experience’s primary goal is to develop parishioners who will lead others to create irresistible environments that help people become open to encountering Jesus in our church.  

The Director is responsible for overseeing the behind-the-scenes logistics concerning certain liturgical events, teams that support our Weekend Experience, and for the upkeep and improvement of our building and grounds.

The Director provides visionary leadership to execute an overall parish department with the responsibility of leading Ministry Leaders (MLs) and Team Leaders (TLs).

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and build out the Leadership Pipeline for your department in the parish.
  • Recruit and develop leaders into various areas of responsibility within your department.
  • Equip the next generation of leaders for their roles and develop them in a way that bears fruit in their personal lives and at the parish.
  • Maintain a healthy span of care between yourself and those you support, and help them do the same.
  • Contextualize the parish vision in your particular areas of responsibility and lead the improvement of our spaces, including the proper stewardship of parish resources.
  • Design department and ministry strategy and implement it in a ministry context.
  • Create systems and processes for use by volunteers within the ministry areas of the Weekend Experience, Funerals, Weddings, and special liturgical events (Christmas, Easter, Confession nights, Corpus Christi, etc), including event planning and execution.
  • Build a team who will care for the various rooms, resources, decorations, and security.
  • Working with the Board of Wardens, negotiate and coordinate outside contracts for spaces inside and outside of the building(s).
Skills & Experience
  • Has a familiarity with building maintenance and repairs;
  • Event coordination experience is an asset;
  • Can connect, build, and nurture a broad range of relationships;
  • Ability to lead and work within a team and support healthy team dynamics;
  • Desire to contribute to, and be a part of, a fun-filled, engaging work environment;
  • Able to maintain confidentiality in dealing with information;
  • Has strong organizational skills and can set and achieve goals for their teams;
  • Comfort working with Macs, PCs and Google G Suite and an openness to new technology;
  • Having participated in the Alpha course (or a similar evangelistic program) is an asset;
  • Displays an openness to learn a basic approaches to forming intentional disciples;
  • Is willing to speak in front of and lead a large group of people (from 5-500).

Support, supervision, and evaluation
The Head of Staff is the first level of support & supervision. Weekly 1 to 1 meetings.
The Director will sit on a Director Team with other Directors. Weekly team meetings.
Working conditions
This is a full-time position that requires flexibility with regard to schedule with an emphasis on the need to be present on Sundays as well as Holy Days.
