We are talking about the move WONDER.

Questions After the Video:

  • Think about the lunchroom scene: Summer walked away from her group to sit with Auggie when he was alone. What makes doing something like that so difficult in a real school cafeteria?
  • Why do you think Jack chose to say hurtful things about Auggie on Halloween, even though they were actually close friends? Have you ever felt that kind of pressure to fit in?
  • Read 1 Samuel 16:7.
    • “People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
  • How is the way the world treats people based on looks or athletic ability different from the way God looks at us?
  • When Jack realized how badly he hurt Auggie, he owned up to it and asked for forgiveness. Why is apologizing and admitting you messed up so hard? What does God teach us about giving people second chances.
  • Look at your own school, sports team, or neighborhood: who is someone who might feel like an outsider or often sits alone?
  • What is one concrete action you can take this week to show that person the kind of love Jesus talks about?

We are talking about the movie THE TRUMAN SHOW

Questions After the Video:

  • Truman lived inside a world where everything was broadcast, curated, and scripted. How does that compare to how people present themselves on Instagram, TikTok, or at school? Where do you feel the pressure to "stick to the script"?
  • Christof warns Truman that the real world is messy, painful, and deceitful. Why do so many people choose comfortable illusions over hard reality?
  • When Christof speaks to Truman, he tries to play on his fear to keep him inside the dome. How do cultural pressures or fear keep you from stepping out in faith?
  • Read Romans 12:2 and John 8:31–32.
    • Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
    • “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
  • What does "stepping through the exit door" look like in your life right now? What is one habit, approval trap, or artificial standard you need to leave behind?
