We are talking about: Putting Jesus first

These are the questions we are asking:

  • What do you think could be difficult for people about following Jesus?
  • What do you think could be easy for people about following Jesus?
  • Read:
  • Luke 9:23-24NLT
  • Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.
  • What’s especially meaningful to you from these words?
  • Imagine a beautiful artwork of you and Jesus, together. What would it look like?
  • Why do you think Jesus asked people to give up their own way and follow Him?
  • What do you think would be different about the world if everyone truly followed Jesus, ignored their own sinful thoughts, and chose to follow Him by loving and serving others the way He did?

We are talking about Real Love.

These are the questions we are asking:

  • What makes you feel loved?
  • Can you think of a few ways young people feel loved?
  • How do you express your love to others?
  • Where do you see evil in the world
  • Where do you see evil in your school, your city, your country, the world?
  • Do you think there are big sins and small sins?
  • What does forgiveness mean to you
  • Why do you think the Bible tells us to forgive other people?
  • How easy is it for you to forgive someone when they hurt you?

Weekly Challenge

Every week, group members accept a personal challenge to apply what was discussed to their day-to-day lives.

This week:

  • “What’s one thing you can do this week to keep your focus on Jesus a little more? Either take a selfie while doing it, or write down what you did and how it went.”

A reminder from last week:

  • This week, talk with your family during supper about who Jesus is to you and why He matters (or doesn’t) in your life. Bring either a short written reflection or a photo of your family during that dinner to share next week.

Parents – Ask your kids about this challenge during dinner time and ask if they did it.
