Today we are talking about church:

  • What is the point of church?

  • Read  1 Corinthians 3:16

Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?

  • What’s especially meaningful to you from this verse?

  • What do you think makes up a church? What is missing from our church when you’re not here?
  • What do you think churches could accomplish if more people came to them each week? What do you think churches could accomplish if even more people carried out God’s mission for the Church (Body of Christ) in their communities each week?
  • What do you think about the phrase, “You don’t just go to church—you are the Church”? What does that phrase inspire you to do or to become? How could you get started on that this week?

This week we are talking about church:

  • What has been your experience of Alpha and IgNation
  • What was your favourite moment of Alpha and IgNation?
  • Did anything surprise you about your experience of Alpha and IgNation?

  • What has been your experience of church?
  • What are some misunderstandings that young people have about the Church?
  • What do you think about the idea that “church” is the people, not the building?

  • What’s the best news you’ve ever received?
  • Is there a “right” or “wrong” time to talk about faith with people?
  • Why do you think it can be awkward to talk about things like faith, spirituality and religion?

Weekly Challenge

Every week, group members accept a personal challenge to apply what was discussed to their day-to-day lives.

This week:

Write 3 examples where you are The Church in your life. And come to mass this Sunday.

A reminder from last week:

Take home the comic strip, give yourself some time to read it and think of an action that you or a group of you could do to help God protect those who suffer.  Bonus: Can you come up with a prayer to ask God for help as you fight against evil.

Parents – Ask your kids about this challenge during dinner time and ask if they did it.
