Today we are talking about joy:

These are the questions we are asking:

  • How can you share joy?
  • Read Luke 2:10-11
    • 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.
  • Who is the good news that will bring great joy for all the people? How can more people become aware of this amazingly good news?
  • What’s something you think about or do when you need to get some joy in your own life?
  • Who will you share some joy with this Advent/Christmas season?

Today we are talking about Advent

These are the questions we are asking:

  • If Jesus were asking for more space in your life, what might He be inviting you to let go of?
  • What does “Advent” mean to you? Why do you think people prepare and wait during Advent?
  • Have you ever felt like you were waiting for something important — what was it like?
  • If your life were to end on December 25th, how would that change the way you live this Advent?
  • Sometimes waiting can be hard and we get impatient. What helps you stay hopeful and calm when you wait for something?
  • If Advent is a time of preparation — what part of “preparation” can you start this week (prayer, kindness, helping others, sharing hope)?

Weekly Challenge

Every week, group members accept a personal challenge to apply what was discussed to their day-to-day lives.

This week:

Say something encouraging to someone who feels left out.

Help at home without being asked.

Make a small card or drawing for someone who needs joy this week.

Sit with someone new at lunch or include someone in a game

A reminder from last week:

Ask God each day this week to teach you to love yourself and others the way He loves you. Share with a drawing or a text next week what He told you and what you did.

Parents – Ask your kids about this challenge during dinner time and ask if they did it.
