This week we are talking about Grace

Questions:

  • How would you describe grace?
  • Read:

Romans 6:14 NIRV

Sin will no longer control you like a master. That’s because the law does not rule you. God’s grace has set you free.

  • What does this Bible verse mean to you?
  • What stood out to you the most from today’s Loop Show? What’s one thing you learned or want to talk about?
  • God gives us grace and forgiveness every time we ask for it. Why do you think it’s sometimes hard for people to ask God for forgiveness anyway?
  • What would you tell a friend if they said, “It doesn’t matter if I keep doing something I know I shouldn’t because God will just forgive me anyway”?
  • God doesn’t have to give us grace. Why do you think He gives us limitless grace anyway?
  • Who is someone from home, school, or your neighbourhood you know you need to show more grace to? How can you show more grace to them this week?

In Sacrament Prep:

We are talking about "Who is God?"

  • If you met God at a party and you knew he would answer any question you asked, what would you ask him?
  •  What would be the difference between interacting with God as an unconscious force or object versus interacting with him as a person?
  • What would/does a relationship with God look like in your own life?
  •  In what ways do you feel God’s presence in your life?
  • How does knowing that God wants to love us individually change the way that we pray?
  • In what ways do you find it difficult to have a relationship with God?

This week we are talking about Guilt

Questions:

  • Father Mike suggests that true guilt is like a signal that we've broken a standard. In your daily life, how do you tell the difference between a "healthy" guilt that pushes you to be better and a "toxic" guilt that just makes you feel miserable?
  • If guilt is about what we did and shame is about who we are in the eyes of others, whose "eyes" or opinions cause you the most stress or shame? How does that compare to how God looks at you?
  • Many people say, "I’m a good person, so I don't need confession." Why might "feeling guilty" actually be a gift from God rather than a burden?
  • The Aftermath: Have you ever felt like you’ve been forgiven (by a friend or in Confession) but you still "feel" bad? Why do you think it’s so hard to accept God’s view of us over our own feelings?
  • Father Mike told the story of the village welcoming back the hurting women with joy. How can our youth group become a place where people feel safe to admit they messed up without feeling "shamed"?

Weekly Challenge

Every week, group members accept a personal challenge to apply what was discussed to their day-to-day lives.

This week:

Show grace to someone, and/or go to confession this week.
Share your experience with your group.

A reminder from last week:

Say a short prayer first thing in the morning before anything else.
Spend 5 minutes less on games/screens and give that time to God.
Do something kind for someone because you want to follow Jesus.
📝 Next Week: Share one moment when you chose to put Jesus first this week.

Parents – Ask your kids about this challenge during dinner time and ask if they did it.

Every week, group members accept a personal challenge to apply what was discussed to their day-to-day lives.

This week:

Practice  your  listening  skills. Meet  with  a  close  friend  or  family  member. For  a  full  5  minutes,  listen  attentively,  asking  questions  as  needed.

A reminder from last week:

Take a daily break from social media (at least 10–15 min) and use that time to pray. Identify one “idol” (phone, approval, success, etc.) and intentionally limit it this week. Start your day with God before checking your phone.
