This week we are talking about truth.

____________________________________________________________________

  • What does the word “truth” make you think of?
  • How is untangling a knot in your metal brainteaser like untangling truth from lies?
  • What can help you find and untangle truth? Ideas: The Bible, studying how Jesus lived His life, listening to the Holy Spirit, talking to trusted godly friends, talking to trusted godly adults, teachings from church, etc.
  • Read Ephesians 4:14-15
    • We must no longer be children, tossed to and from and blown about by every wind of doctrine, by people’s trickery, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming.  But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,
  • What do you think it means to be “tossed and blown about” by false ideas?
  • How does that cause tangles in your everyday life?
  • What do you think it means to speak the truth in love?

Sacraments: Prayer

  • How would you describe prayer to someone who has never prayed before? How do you think your concept of prayer shapes your relationship with God?
  • In what ways can viewing prayer as a relationship change how we experience it and approach it in our daily lives?
  • How does the idea that “prayer doesn’t just help our relationship with God, prayer is our relationship with God” challenge or affirm your current understanding of prayer?
  • How do you experience prayer in your own life? Is it like a conversation or something else?
  • Prayer is both personal and communal. How does the idea of praying with the entire Body of Christ, both on earth and in heaven, change the way you think about prayer?
  • How can we be more honest and open with Jesus in prayer, bringing to Him our desires, needs, and challenges like the Samaritan woman did?
  • The Catechism describes the Liturgy, Scripture, and Sacraments as “wellsprings” of prayer. How can you make these more central in your spiritual life to grow a deeper relationship with God?

This week we are talking about the trinity

After First Clip Introduction to the trinity and Papa

  • What are your thoughts on the concept of the Trinity presented in this movie?
  • What is something that stood out to you during the dinner conversation?
  • Papa said that we are created to love that is our purpose; if we can’t love, it is like a bird without wings. What are your thoughts on this idea?
    • Just to be clear, God is a spiritual being, therefore only in Jesus can we understand the humanity of God, but the Father and the Holy Spirit are spiritual persons, therefore God doesn't have a gender necessarily.

After the second clip The Judgement.

  • Have you ever questioned God about the evil in the world? Have you ever thought God created that evil, or why God permitted it?
  • How do you feel when watching this part of the movie? How do you feel about this idea being presented in the movie?
  • What do you think of Mack’s reaction towards Papa after the “trial”?

After the Third clip Forgiveness

  • How would you feel if you were in Mack’s shoes?

After the fourth clip  God with us

  • What do you think of the idea that God is always with us, that Gos is not one more person to love or to put in our lives, but is the power that helps us love others, including our families?
  • What do you think of the idea that putting God at the center of our lives doesn’t mean to not love others less, but actually to love everyone else through God’s love?
