WEEK two

Relationship
with Jesus

Summary
“As Jesus passed along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the sea, for they were fishers. And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of people.” And immediately they left their nets and followed him.”
Mark 1:16-18

Being a Christian isn't simply about following rules or belonging to a church. It's about having a real, active relationship with Jesus and growing as His friend, follower, and disciple. Just as Jesus called Simon and Andrew in the Gospel to leave their nets and follow Him, He continues to invite each of us today into a relationship with Him.

The core message of the Gospel can be summed in four points:
• God loves us and created us for relationship with Him
• Sin separates us from that relationship
• Jesus saves us through His life, death, and resurrection
• we are invited to respond by choosing to follow Him

Jesus continues to say the same words today: “Follow me.”
The question is: How will you respond to His invitation?
Discuss
  • What stood out to you from the talk?
  • What is the driving force of your life?
  • How do you react to the idea that Jesus wants to be in relationship with you?
  • How would you describe your current relationship with Jesus?
Assess
  • On a scale of 1-10, how important is growing in this topic for you?
  • On a scale of 1-10, how equipped do you feel to live this out on a day to day basis?
Practice
Choose one way to relate to God as someone who is personally present in your life this week
  • Buckle up an extra seatbelt and talk to God on your commute
  • Set up an extra table setting at the dinner table
  • Put on headphones but leave them on silent.
